Mary Yates, 85, of Springboro passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025. She was born In New Kensington, PA on December 26, 1939, the daughter of Anthony and Frances (Osowsky) Dudek. She worked for many years as a CNA at Pleasant Ridge Manor and enjoyed crafting at the library and bowling. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Yates and brother Henry X Dudek. Mary chose to write her own obituary so she could say what was important to her. The words that follow are hers.
In my life, I had good times, bad times and Covid year (yuck). I made it through and kept my sense of humor. I was surrounded by many loving people, family and friends alike. I leave behind a very special group of people—my family. They always amazed me with the way they cared for others. I loved them dearly and continue to do so, but on the other side of life. They were always there for me.
I read somewhere that children are “our rainbow in life and grandchildren are our pot of gold”. How true that is! My children (my rainbow) Jim Yates of Dallas NC, Joy (Chip) Post of Springboro, Brenda Braden of Conneautville, Thomas Yates of Henderson, NV and Amy Yates of Linesville. Grandchildren (my pot of gold) Matt (Brandi) Post, Justin (Malorie) Post, Jason (Heather) Braden, Toni (Drew) Longo, Edward Braden, Jared (Alison) Yates, Reanna Yates, Jessie Yates and Lucas (Lia) Yates. Lucas had a special place in my heart (I spent the most time with him), but they all have been my favorite at their own “special” times. Great grandchildren (pot of gold from the other end of the rainbow) Alexis (Travis), Kaitlyn, Hayden, Wyatt, Ella, Everett, Rowan, Walter, Louisa, Chance, EJ, and Danica; and one great great grandson Garrett. One special neighbor Robert Adams, brother Robert Dudek and sister Donna (Devon) Carman. Love them all!!!
I have plans when I get to the other side of life. Don’t be surprised if you see a cow (Sandy) and a bat (me) coming through your walls singing and trying to scare you. You may also see a butterfly (Leona) shaking her head “no” in the background. She was the sane one. When I get tired of that, I plan on being a musical note—going around the earth helping to bring peace on earth. That is a daunting job. So plan ahead people! We will need all the help we can get.
Services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Marquette Hospice House (what an amazing caring place), 13465 N. Wayland Rd., Meadville, PA 16335, Springboro Vol. Fire Dept. 176 North Main St. or Springboro Library110 South Main St. both of Springboro, PA 16435.
When hearts listen, angels sing.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of MCCAULEY FUNERAL HOME, 1405 Main St. Conneautville, PA 16406.
